چکیده

We measure the magnetic-field dependence of the c-axis resistivity, ρc(H), in a series of Bi2Sr2−xLaxCuO6+δ (BSLCO) single crystals for a wide range of doping using pulsed magnetic fields up to 58 T. The behavior of ρc(H) is examined in light of the recent determination of the upper critical field Hc2 for this material using Nernst effect measurements. We find that the peak in ρc(H) shows up at a field Hp that is much lower than Hc2 and there is no discernable feature in ρc(H) at Hc2. Intriguingly, Hp shows a doping dependence similar to that of Tc, and there is an approximate relation kBTc ' 12gμBHp. Moreover, we show that the data for the lowest-Tc sample can be used to estimate the pseudogap closing field Hpg, but the method to estimate Hpg proposed by Shibauchi et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 86, 5763 (2001)] must be modified to apply to the BSLCO system.

Systematic Evolution of the Magnetotransport Properties of Bi2Sr2−xLaxCuO6 with Carrier Concentration

We report that it is possible to obtain a series of high-quality crystals of Bi2Sr2−xLaxCuO6, of which the transport properties have been believed to be “dirtier” than those of other cuprates. In our crystals, the normal-state transport properties display behaviors which are in good accord with other cuprates; for example, in the underdoped region the in-plane resistivity ρab shows the pseudoga...

Coexistence of superconductivity and magnetic ordering or their mutually exclusive existence in solids is one of the fundamental problems of solid state physics. To determine the effect of Pr substitution for Gd on electrical and magnetic properties of RuGd1.5Ce0.5Sr2Cu2O10-δ (Ru-1222), Ru(Gd1.5-xPrx)Ce0.5Sr2Cu2O10-δ with x=0.0, 0.01, 0.03, 0.03 3 , 0.04, 0.05, 0.06, 0.1 have been prepared by...

Doping evolution of the electronic structure in the single-layer cuprates Bi2Sr2−xLaxCuO6+δ: Comparison with other single-layer cuprates

We have performed angle-resolved photoemission and core-level x-ray photoemission studies of the single-layer cuprate Bi2Sr2−xLaxCuO6+δ (Bi2201) and revealed the doping evolution of the electronic structure from the lightly-doped to optimally-doped regions. We have observed the formation of the dispersive quasi-particle band, evolution of the Fermi “arc” into the Fermi surface and the shift of ...

Systematic evolution of the magnetotransport properties of Bi2Sr2−xLaxCuO6 in a wide doping range

Since the high-Tc cuprates are in essence doped Mott insulators, systematic studies of the evolution of the normal-state properties upon changing the carrier concentration are very useful for elucidating the origin of the peculiar normal state. Bi2Sr2CuO6 (Bi-2201) system is an attractive candidate for such studies, because the carrier concentration can be widely changed by partially replacing ...

Quantum phase transitions in the cuprate superconductor Bi2Sr2-xLaxCuO6+delta.

To elucidate a quantum phase transition (QPT) in Bi(2)Sr(2-x)La(x)CuO(6+delta), we measure charge and heat transport properties at very low temperatures and examine the following characteristics for a wide range of doping: normal-state resistivity anisotropy under 58 T, temperature dependence of the in-plane thermal conductivity kappa(ab), and the magnetic-field dependence of kappa(ab). It turn...
